The Church is dying by pride

I was just speaking with my brother and he told me about a gentleman he knew who just committed suicide today. This man went to a Baptist church and was involved with other activities outside of Sunday morning, he had a seemingly good life, a wife and kids. So why? Why did he commit the ultimate selfish act?

Perhaps could it be that just because a person goes to “church”, they are not more protected against sin? Is a Baptist more righteous than a Muslim?

I would propose that the majority of issues within most local American churches originate from a deep seeded pride. The enemy wants nothing more than to build this to the point where the church-goer actually believes that their protection and righteousness comes from their attendance, service, and scripture reading plan. That is both a very frightening thought, and yet, a reality.
